Marissa and Toan’s wedding was one for the books! These two are some of the most genuine people I have had the pleasure to capture. Totally in love (obviously) but also people who always look to make those around them feel loved and comfortable. In one of the speeches, it was remarked that they knew Marissa and Toan were a perfect match because they both have the ability to give gifts that perfectly fit the person they are giving to. And that really says something about them as people. So to be able to capture this caring, loving and wonderful couple was a highlight for me! You should remember this couples from their modern downtown Houston engagement session with their adorable pup Oliver!
I am so excited to show off this Houston Asia Society wedding ❤️ Wedding planner Laced with Grace and I paired together again for this one and it was magical!
Getting Ready at The Westin at Downtown Houston
Marissa and Toan decided to get hotel rooms for each of them so that they could be across the street from the ceremony. It meant a more low key day for both of them, in a spot that would get them great photos. Marissa and her bridesmaids had their hair done by The Chariot Room and makeup by Makeup by Mari, and it looked so good!
Marissa and Toan did their first look at the entrance to the hotel and then we went to the streets for all the rest of the pictures! My favorite photos are the ones where the entire wedding party is walking in the middle of the street. Marissa looks beautiful in her gown from Impression Bridal, she was glowing the second she put it on! And don’t even get me start on Toan, he looked debonair in his suit from Suit Mart.
Ceremony at Annunciation Catholic Church
The wedding ceremony at Annunciation Church was a full Catholic one. Marissa and Toan chose this church because they loved the old architecture within it. It is the oldest Catholic Church in Houston, and its old world vibe resonated with both of them. Plus they loved how much of a contrast the church is with their reception space.
The ceremony itself was beautiful and touching. Marissa looked like a dream walking down the aisle with the cape on her gown. It made her look like she was floating down the aisle.
Reception at Asia Society
After the ceremony Marissa and Toan did their last round of couple’s photos, which was fabulous because the modern vibe of the space was a perfect contrast to their photos downtown. One of the cool things they did at the reception was doing a photo booth inspired by the photos at the Vanity Fair Oscars! My team set up chairs and lighting and we did specialized portraits of Marissa, Toan, their wedding party and family. Then? Anyone else who wanted to get photos! It turned out even better than we imagined!
As for their reception, they wanted an atmosphere of effortless elegance, which is apparent right off the bat. Casa de Flores‘ flowers mixed with the linens and china from Swift Events created an intimate mood in the dining room. The cake by Rustika Cafe & Bakery was simple, elegant and had a topper that included their pup Ollie!
After their delicious dinner (shout out to Café Natalie!), Marissa and Toan danced the night away with their guests. They had their first dances and after that their epic DJ Signature Eventx opened up the dance floor and got so many people dancing! It was so fun, they were amazing!! You can tell from the photos how much fun was had the entire night.
Ending the night, Marissa and Toan did a private last dance to the song “Lovers” by Taylor Swift.. Then they had their grand exit, with their loved ones tossing lavendar on them instead of confetti. It was a stunning Houston Asia Society wedding.
