If you live in Houston, you know that winter is the best time to do an engagement session because it isn’t super cold outside. Up until January, the parks are still green, even if some of the flowers have passed away. There are still some warm days and it isn’t too rainy. This means that finding your engagement session outfits will be fun and easy! Living in Houston means there are lots of places to get great plus-size outfits.
Cute Plus-Size Engagement Session Outfits for Women
The first place I like to go to are local small businesses. I especially like The Engagement Boutique, the owner makes sure to find options for both straight-sized women and plus-size women. Here are a few of my current favorites that they have in their store:
I love this dress because it is a flattering length, it has structure and texture. White dresses look great for both indoor and outdoor engagement sessions.
I love this dress because it has pearls on it! Pearls are my favorite. But I love the high neckline and the structure of the dress. It is so flattering for all sizes!
Yes this dress is on a stright sized model, but this dress goes up in sizes, and will look fantastic on everyone. Again, I love the texture on the dress, it’s flirty and fun, which is perfect for an engagement session.
If you are more of a simple bride, I love this dress because it is elegant without too much fluff. And with it being a bit longer, it has wonderful movement to it. If you prefer a big box store, My favorite places to shop are Anthropologie and Eloquii. Torrid has been hit or miss for the past few years, but lately they have been stepping up their game. I especially like their Retro Chic line, it has a 50’s vibe to it that’s both sweet and sexy.
From Anthropologie, I specifically like this sweater dress, it is perfect for a winter engagement session in Houston. It comes in 4 different colors, and I would have been inclined to get it in either egnogg or loden green (the two blue colors seem to be almost identical). I am also a big sucker for off-the-shoulder outfits, and this dress is gorgeous. I specifically like the blue ice shade for an outdoor session, as the blue will pop nicely in a park or space with lots of greenery.
If you are looking for something a little more flirty or sequined, this dress is stunning and would pair well with tights or boots. Of course, there are great online stores, like Amazon, Cider, City Chic, ModCloth and JessaKae. All of them have great options for anyone over a size 12. The key to a good look is making sure the outfit has structure and is in colors that don’t blend in with where you are doing your session. My engagement session guide goes into great detail about this, which I send to every client who books with me.
Nice Plus-Size Engagement Session Outfits for Men
As we know, men also exist in larger bodies, and they need clothing ideas too! For men, we need to make sure that you are breaking up your body and not wearing huge shirts or pants to hide your body. When you wear something that floods your body, you are making it look bigger than it is. So my first rule is: tuck in your effing shirt!! And no back talk about this.
After tucking in your shirt, adding a jacket or a vest to your outfit will add dimension and structure to your look, while classing it up. You are matching the energy of your partner when you wear clothing like this. It elevates your photos and makes you look handsome. Below are some looks I love from previous engagement sessions that show off what I am talking about.

Pink looks great against a white dress, especially at the beach. And see how tucking in the shirt breaks up his torso and makes him look taller? I love it when I am right.
The blue suit is a handsome contrast to her white silk dress. They are quite the pair under the neon lights of Dean’s Bar.
I love how the white shirt tucked in looks so good in all the greenery. It pops nicely and makes him stand out.
