I still remember like it was yesterday the first time I met Aubrey and Sean. We met for a consult at the Burger Joint in Montrose, and quickly realized we had similar taste in food. I also realized quickly that we were going to be fast friends. Over burgers and shakes we talked about their wedding dreams, how they got together, the hilarity of the proposal and what kept them together as a couple. We talked for three hours. At the end of the dinner I knew I would be devastated if they went with another photographer to capture their charming Houston wedding at Hochzeit Hall. Obviously I wasn’t going to say that to them, but I loved them so much from the very first second! Thankfully the feeling was mutual and I was the chosen one to document their journey from engaged to married.
Aubrey + Sean | Houston Wedding at Hochzeit Hall
After welcoming Aubrey and Sean to the Swish and Click family, we started planning their engagement session quickly. I am sure you remember their romantic engagement session at the Houston Arboretum, because I gushed about that one for months!! But then, Aubrey won a contest for a free session with me and so off we went to their old stomping grounds at Texas A&M University for a second engagement session. At this session, they gave me a tour of their school, told me about the school’s history, and in between we took photos. One awesome thing that happened, was we were able to get photos on Kyle Field, which was epic!
And of course, if you have seen those sessions, you’ll remember Aubrey’s gorgeous bridal session. We found some amazing nooks and crannies at Texas A&M’s campus for these shots. And although the scaffolding at Administration Building was under construction, we got some gorgeous photos regardless!
With Aubrey and Sean’s organic green and mustard wedding vibe, the photos we captured leading up to their wedding jived perfectly. I love how cohesive the images are and am humbled to be the photographer to bring their love story to life.
Wedding Ceremony at Holy Rosary Church
Aubrey and Sean both got ready at Holy Rosary church before the ceremony, which is great because I love the grounds and the bridal suite for photos. During the getting ready, Aubrey gifted Sean with a watch that mirrored his current one. You see, Sean lost his sister in 2018 in a tragic accident, and his current watch commemorated her passing. Aubrey wanted to honor Erin and their marriage, so she gave Sean a new watch to do both.
When Sean opened the box, the emotion in that moment shifted. I knew Sean was missing his sister, and although the watch wouldn’t make up for her not being there, it was still very special. Inscribed on the back of the watch, it says “TIL THE END OF TIME”. Sean and Aubrey also honored Erin by having Erin’s favorite necklace wrapped around the base of her bouquet. Aubrey also included a silk rose in her bouquet as her something old, which was in her grandmother’s bouquet when she was married.
They had a full Catholic wedding, and it was incredibly moving. I loved the greenery and lanterns that decorated the front pews by College Park Flowers. They added ambiance to the church in a way that was understated but super pretty. One of my favorite parts of the wedding was when Aubrey and Sean joined together with the priest and both wiped away tears at the same time. I might have teared up at the same time. Another thing that moved me was the candle to honor Erin that was walked down the aisle and given to Sean before Aubrey walked down the aisle.
The ceremony was emotional and touching. When Aubrey and Sean kissed, people cheered! Everyone there was so excited they were married, including myself!
Wedding Reception at Hochzeit Hall
Once we were done with the wedding party photos, we drove to Hochzeit Hall. Once there Aubrey and Sean toured the reception hall and then we did portraits! Hochzeit Hall has this gorgeous chapel and we hd to do photos there.
The entire evening rolled out flawlessly, thanks to planner Jasmine from J. Bray Events. One of my favorite touches was the signage, table numbers and seating blocks, they were all made by Aubrey! She spent hours lettering everything, and has such a talent for it! I also loved the cakes by El Bolillo Bakery, both of the cakes were beautiful and also freaking delicious.
After the grand entrance, Aubrey and Sean did their first dance and then they had their speeches. But the most emotional moment? When Sean danced with his mother. As Sean took to the dance floor with his mother, his father cried. As someone who is empathetic with others, this moment also made me get emotional. People looked on with a mixture of happiness and solemness.
Once those dances were done, the party started! Everyone had a blast on the dance floor, with LG Event Entertainment rocking it out!! Everyone danced like there was no tomorrow! At the end of the night, Aubrey and Sean did a grand exit with sprinkles, and Sean was surprised with a cool car to drive in.
