I met Jensen and Joseph at an open house at the Luminaire and we had an amazing conversation! I loved their vision for their wedding, so when they booked me, I knew we were going to bring their dreams to life. They have decided they want to have a wedding with a celestial theme, and this is also featured lightly in their engagement session. But I am getting ahead of myself. Don’t want to ruin all the details of this downtown Houston engagement session! Jensen and Joseph had a first date that people wish they could have. They met at the Kemah Boardwalk, went on rides, had snacks and then dinner. It started out lighthearted but they wound up talking all night. They felt a huge connection! Jensen has told me a few times that their first date was electric. And that ever since they have done whatever they could to stay together.
Proposal on a Ferris Wheel
Joseph told me all about their proposal:
Jensen had helped pick out the engagement ring while on a work trip with me in Virginia. A few weeks after buying the ring, I suggested that we return to Kemah on a weekday and enjoy an afternoon together. Jensen (somehow unaware of my intentions) agreed and we took a ride on the ferris wheel. As soon as the ride began, I jammed my smart phone into a selfie stick and started recording my proposal. Jensen was smiling by still in shock as all of this occurred.
Downtown Houston Engagement Session
Knowing how important Kemah is to both Jensen and Joseph, we started their engagement session there. Sadly the ferris wheel wasn’t working that day, but we did get photos in front of it. The air was a little crisp, so we tried to do the photos in the sun as much as possible! They had cotton candy, stopped at Joe’s Crab Shack and took in the gorgeous scenery. These photos are perfect because they represent where they started as a couple. Then we headed downtown and changed outfits. Jensen wanted this portion of the shoot to represent the theme of their wedding, so she changed into this beautiful purple dress adorned with glitter. It definitely has a celestial vibe! Joseph complimented her dress in a grey top and slacks. We took photos all around the downtown streets and ended the night on the rooftop to get the background of Houston in the photos. I love how they turned out!
