Houston Marriage Proposal Photographer | Joe & Ashley

Tuesday, September 20th, 2022

One of my favorite things to do is to work with people who are planning a marriage proposal. It truly gets me so excited and I love helping the person bring their vision to life! We will meet in advance of the proposal to walk the space and talk about the best vantage points to do it. That way we know what the light looks like, the space looks like, everything. I love this beautiful proposal between Jay and Kristen at the Houston Arboretum. It was my first proposal that I worked hard with partner to make sure the event went flawlessly.

When Joe reached out to me he was new to Houston and looking for guidance for a location to propose to his girlfriend Ashley. Initially he thought about going to the Houston Waterfall, but the timing would have been too crowded with tourists, so we got to brainstorming! Since he was proposing in June, we wanted to make sure we were able to do either indoors or early morning/golden hour so it was a little cooler. He ended up taking her around town to several museums to see her feel on each before making his selection.

The Proposal

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston was the final decision and it made for the perfect backdrop to their love story! After dropping to one knee and asking Ashley to be his wife, I was able to capture some great photos of the newly engaged pair touring the art museum. proposal at houston fine art museum by Houston's best wedding photographers Swish and Click Photography proposal at houston fine art museum by Houston's best wedding photographers Swish and Click Photography proposal at houston fine art museum by Houston's best wedding photographers Swish and Click Photography proposal at houston fine art museum by Houston's best wedding photographers Swish and Click Photography proposal at houston fine art museum by Houston's best wedding photographers Swish and Click Photography proposal at houston fine art museum by Houston's best wedding photographers Swish and Click Photography proposal at houston fine art museum by Houston's best wedding photographers Swish and Click Photography

Here are some quick tips when you go to propose:

  1. Have your intended get their nails done a bit before the proposal, roughly a week before. Make it your treat if you need to encourage this.
  2. Have a trustworthy friend (or friends) to help make your plan realistic to your intended so they don’t suspect the proposal.
  3. Hire a professional photographer. We know the best angles for the proposal and subsequent couples portraits afterwards to show off the ring! Budget about $500 for this, as the photographer will be with you for minimum of an hour, from being there before the proposal to doing photos after.
  4. Considering having family and friends there to celebrate after! It makes the moment feel really special.
