Buffalo Bayou Park Engagement Session | Jasmine & Tyler

Tuesday, January 10th, 2023

Getting to do an engagement session with my couples prior to their wedding is one of my favorite things – and I always suggest adding one. I am sure you remember this recent enchanting engagement session with Alyssa and Kai, it is a perfect example of why you want to do an engagement session. Not only can you practice in front of the camera, but your wedding photographer will get to know you as a couple even better. It is the best test run before your wedding day, and this was the case for Jasmine and Tyler during their park engagement session.

Houston Wedding Couple Jasmine & Tyler

Jasmine and Tyler met in high school through a mutual friend. Tyler says, “I fell in love with Jasmine’s kindness. She is beautiful inside & out. She has always been very supportive of me and has always pushed me to be better.” In Jasmine’s words, “I fell in love with Tyler’s ability to listen. He is my best friend and always gives the best advice.” They are major foodies and love spending time with their pets. They love Shark Tank, Married at First Sight, and virtually all music!

The Proposal

“I proposed on Jasmine’s 24th birthday and I told her we were going to take photos for her birthday which she had wanted to do for a while. I took her to McGovern Centennial Gardens where we met with our photographer and started taking photos. Having told the photographer beforehand that I wanted to propose during the shoot but I had no idea when/where I was going to do it. As we started taking photos I saw exactly where I wanted to do it- right in front of the waterfall running down the spiral hill. We stood there waiting for another couple to finish with their photos in that very spot.

While we were waiting, the guy taking photos dropped to one knee and did the very thing I had planned on doing. The photographer and I looked at each other frantically and scanned the gardens to see where else I could propose. I was set on doing it in front of the waterfall so after they left we began taking our photos. After a few poses, I turned to Jasmine and said, “well… of course the guy before me had the same idea” and I kneeled down on one knee and asked her to marry me.”
