Menil Park Marriage Proposal | Nahyan & Raheen

Tuesday, November 29th, 2022

One of my favorite things to do is to work with people who are planning a marriage proposal. It truly gets me so excited and I love hearing about the love story as well as helping the person bring their vision to life! To have the best proposal possible, we will meet in advance to walk the space and talk about the best vantage points to do it. That way we know what the light looks like, the space looks like, everything. For Nahyan’s proposal to Raheen, we met before to discuss everything about his Menil Park marriage proposal in detail.

You will remember that I did something similar with Joe and Ashley’s Fine Art Museum proposal as well as Jay and Kristen’s proposal at the Houston Arboretum. Both very different proposals, but both planned out perfectly.

The Menil Park Marriage Proposal

One of the best things about it is that he had family to help him…as well as to congratulate them when it was over! They set up roses, candles, a blanket with music and we chose the best tree to do it under. I had to snap a picture of everyone who helped who were hiding behind a tree in anticipation of the Menil Park marriage proposal! I love it when family are so invested in these moments and want to be there.

Here are some quick tips when you go to propose:

  1. Have your intended get their nails done a bit before the proposal, roughly a week before. Make it your treat if you need to encourage this.
  2. Have a trustworthy friend (or friends) to help make your plan realistic to your intended so they don’t suspect the proposal.
  3. Hire a professional photographer. We know the best angles for the proposal and subsequent couples portraits afterwards to show off the ring! Budget about $500 for this, as the photographer will be with you for minimum of an hour, from being there before the proposal to doing photos after.
  4. Considering having family and friends there to celebrate after! It makes the moment feel really special.
