Twin Peaks, Pie and a Houston Engagement Session

Monday, June 7th, 2021

I met Joanna at the Bridal Extravaganza in January 2020, in what I like to call “the before times”. I saw her wearing a shirt that reference the TV show The Office, and I knew we would be an amazing fit! She danced her way over to my booth and the rest is history. When it came time to plan her Houston engagement session with her fiancé Andrew, she had a ton of ideas. Some were romantic, some were themed and all of it fit her and Andrew to a tee.

Joanna and Andrew have been together for over ten years. They met at a local park and since the moment they met they have been inseparable. The love playing with their baby and Hrothgar (cat), watching TV shows together (like The Office) and having friends over for beers and sitting by their fire pit. Honestly, any talk about a fire pit makes me want to eat s’mores!

Houston Engagement Session w Joanna and Andrew

Joanna and Andrew broke their engagement session into two parts, something I always recommend to my clients. In fact I have blogged about it, to help my clients get the best experience possible. The first part was at House of Pies, as they were wanting to pay homage to Twin Peaks. In the show, eating cherry pie and drinking black coffee is laced throughout every episode and even has subtle references to the characters within it. The special touch was having the cups say Double R on them, which is of course from the diner in the show. Joanna even picked out napkins with a similar pattern to the floor of the diner, as another nod. They really thought everything through!

For the second part of the session, Joanna and Andrew went to the Houston Arboretum. Joanna switched to a gorgeous red velvet dress, that looked stunning on her. These two walked, kiss and laughed in the park, and we were lucky enough to have gorgeous weather for it!

So what was your favorite part of this Houston engagement session? Did you love the Twin Peaks references? Should I give the show a chance again? I swear I tried when I was in university, I just couldn’t get into it. Can’t wait to hear how you felt about this engagement session!
